When should I maintence my Can-Am?
For a Can-Am (which could be an ATV, side-by-side/UTV like the Can-Am Maverick or Defender, or a Spyder/Ryker 3-wheeler), the maintenance schedule depends on the model, engine type, and usage conditions (trail, mud, desert, etc.). But here’s a general guideline:
Typical Can-Am Maintenance Schedule
Every 25–50 Hours or 600 miles
Change engine oil and filter
Check and clean or replace air filter
Check coolant and brake fluid levels
Inspect drive belt and clutch
Grease suspension and driveline
Check tire pressure and condition
Inspect brakes (pads, lines, and fluid)
Tighten chassis bolts
Every 100 Hours or 1,200 miles
Change front/rear differential fluid
Inspect and/or change transmission fluid (CVT)
Check spark plugs
Inspect wheel bearings
Inspect and possibly replace CVT belt
Full inspection of the frame and suspension
Annually (regardless of mileage)
Battery health check
Coolant flush (every 2 years or as needed)
Thorough inspection for wear, leaks, and corrosion
Software/ECU updates at dealership if applicable
Heavy Use or Harsh Conditions
If you ride in mud, sand, deep water, or dusty trails, perform maintenance more frequently, especially air filters, oil changes, and clutch inspections.
